The Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15, is a work for paino and orchestra completed by Johannes Brahms in 1858. The composer gave the work's public debut in Hanover, the following year. It was his first-performed orchestral work, and (in its third performance) his first orchestral work performed to audience approval. Artur Rubinstein, the pianist featured on this album, was a Polish-American pianist, widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time. He received international acclaim for his performances of the music written by a variety of composers. He played in public for eight decades, dying in 1982. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is an American symphony orchestra based in Chicago, Illinois, that was founded by Theodore Thomas in 1891. The CSO is one of the American orchestras commonly referred to as the "Big Five." This record and its sleeve are in Very Good Plus condition.
