Eugene Ormandy was a Hungarian-born American conductor and violinist, best known for his association with the Philadelphia Orchestra, as its music director, who he conducts here. His 44-year association with the orchestra is one of the longest enjoyed by any conductor with any American orchestra. His reputation was as a skilled technician and expert orchestral builder. The Grand Canyon Suite is a suite for orchestra by Ferde Grofe, composed between 1929 and 1931. It was initially titled Five Pictures of the Grand Canyon. It consists of five movements, each an evocation in tone of a particular scene typical of the Grand Canyon. This is a 1962 reissue of a 1958 performance. This record and its sleeve are in Very Good Plus condition.
