Richard Chamberlain was an American actor and singer who became a teen idol in the title role of the television show Dr. Kildare (1961–1966). He subsequently appeared in several miniseries, such as Shogun (1980) and The Thorn Birds (1983). Chamberlain has also performed classical stage roles and worked in musical theater. Blue Guitar is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. In 1963, Chamberlain released it as the lead single from his album Twilight of Honor. It was a number 12 hit on the Easy Listening chart and reached number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. The B-side, another Bacharach-David composition entitled They Long To Be Close To You, is the original version of the song that became a number-one hit for the Carpenters in 1970. This single and its original picture sleeve are both in Very Good Plus condition.
