Poison Ivy is a popular song by American songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.  It was originally recorded as here by The Coasters in 1959. It went to number 1 on the R&B chart and  number 7 on theBillboard Hot 100 chart. This was their third top-ten hit of that year. Contrary to what I suspected, Poison Ivy, famed guitarist of The Cramps, did NOT get her name from this song. The real story is that she got her stage name after a vision she had while fasting and taking mushrooms, resulting in the name "Poison Ivy Rorschach." The more you know!
